ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

High School Qualification

The prospect student needs to have successfully obtained secondary education from an officially recognized secondary school (high school with average mark of 62% from the general subjects

English Language Skills

English is the language of instruction, therefore the prospect student needs to demonstrate English language skills through an internationally recognized English Language Certificate (TOEFL IBT, SAT, IELTS or similar). The minimum scores are as follows:

TOEFL IBT with score of min. 79 points;

SAT over 1000 points from two sections

IELTS 6.0(or equivalent score from another testing system)

Prospect students whose native language or language of instruction at school is English, are exempt from the English Language Skills requirement.

Note: if no certificate, the prospect student can hold an English language exam organized by VUM in-house or online.

Note: upon an insufficient level of lack of English language skills, the prospect student can enrol in a preparatory English language course at VUM or opt for additional language module.

SCHOLARSHIPS

VUM enables students, who achieve good results on the admission exams to receive a scholarship in the first year of study. We take into consideration your academic credentials from your high school diploma, English language exam results and motivation demonstrated during your admissions interview. In the first semester, students can apply for a scholarship up to 1,000, as the exact amount is determined by the result gained on the English exam (certificate) or SAT and motivational interview.

Prospective students with good score on internationally recognized English language tests, such as SAT Reasoning test, TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, FCE. etc., see table below might apply for a scholarship from EUR1100 to EUR1500 for their first semester of education. The scholarship is awarded based on ranking related to the average points from the international recognised English language test as a percentage from the maximum score

VISA APPLICATION

Upon successful admission (receipt of an offer) by VUM, a student needs to move on with their visa D application, which consists of three main steps. If the student strictly follows the step-by-step instructions given by VUM admissions team, the visa application will be smooth and fast.

Preparing the following set of documents

  • The student needs to then fill in, print and sign a detailed application form
  • Obtain a document certifying that the student has right to continue their education at a higher school (university) in the country where they obtained their high school diploma from;
  • Obtain medical (health) certificate, issued within 1 month prior to the date of signing their detailed application form;
  • Copy of High school (secondary education) diploma + transcript of all marks;

Note: additional documents listed in this step must be translated, legalized and sent via e-mail and post to VUM;

Submitting all documents to the Ministry of Education and receiving a certificate by the Ministry of Education. Upon student’s request, VUM sends all original documents back to the student.

Registering and attending visa interview

Upon receiving all documents, the students registers for and attends an interview at the closest Bulgarian embassy;

Note: The application for issuing a long-stay visa is submitted only in the diplomatic and consular missions at the permanent place of residence of the applicant or the missions accredited in the state of the applicant’s permanent residence. Persons staying legally in a third country, different from the country of their permanent residence, may, as an exception, apply in this third country after explaining the reasons thereof and if their return to the state of permanent residence is guaranteed
